Insomniac confirms that Spider-Man 2 will receive a new Game Plus mode later this year

Later this year, Spider-Man 2 will receive a New Game+ feature as part of a post-launch upgrade. According to Insomniac Games Community Director James Stevenson, those looking to replay the title and complete all of the side quests may have to wait a little longer, but for now, simply beating it once grants access to a 'Ultimate' difficulty setting for a new playthrough. A New Game + option, for the uninitiated, often allows players to re-enter a game's campaign in a powerful form, since the in-game character carries over all gained abilities, tools and weapons, and gear upgrades.

The option to replay missions is also not accessible at launch, but Stevenson informed a fan on Twitter that such functions will be introduced in a later patch. This would also be useful for individuals who wish to recreate the most important cinematic set pieces in Spider-Man 2 without having to first finish a whole run. Insomniac Games strongly advised users of the physical/disc edition of the game to download a version 1.001.002 patch before starting the game. The gold master version of Spider-Man 2 on the disc is fully playable from start to finish, but the patch is expected to generally refine the game — particularly the opening sections — while also bringing some new accessibility features aimed at those with visual, auditory, or motor challenges.
