In August, Google launched its search generative experience (SGE) in India, introducing AI-generated replies and summaries to its famous search engine. Generative AI search promised more effective and entertaining results, as well as in-depth overviews. Now, the internet behemoth is improving its AI search tool in India. Google is making the search generative experience more visual and localized in India for better results. At its Google for India 2023 event on Thursday, the firm highlighted the upgrades to its AI search in the nation.
Google stated in a blog post describing new product experiences introduced at the event that it was introducing new capabilities to SGE in India that would make its AI-generated information preview more relevant and understandable. SGE, according to Google, will now be richer and more visual, with additional photos and videos added to some of its overviews.
"For example, when you look for something like, "what are the numerous methods to drape a saree?" "You'll be able to refer to a more visual and easy-to-understand AI-powered overview with images and videos of various types of drapes," Google added in a blog post.
Additionally, generative AI search is getting increasingly localized, presenting consumers with location-specific replies. Users might learn about what a city has to offer and discover things to do nearby using SGE, which will now combine user evaluations of establishments to deliver more accurate information.
Google is also making it easier to find information on government initiatives. In the next weeks, SGE will assist Indian users in simply navigating and locating critical information on over 100 government initiatives in healthcare, housing, jobs, women's welfare, farming, and other sectors. All of this, as well as everything else on SGE, will be available in both Hindi and English.
Google is also improving the capabilities of Google Lens, allowing users to search for skin disorders that are visually comparable to what they see on their skin. Users may use Google Lens to snap a picture of their skin condition and obtain visual matches for information about it.
Additionally, the business unveiled new Google Pay capabilities for both merchants and customers. Google's famous digital payments program is teaming up with ePayLater to provide retailers a credit line. It is also introducing sachet loans starting as low as Rs. 15,000 in collaboration with DMI Finance. On the consumer side, Axis Bank is already offering personal loans through Google Pay, with other banks to follow. Users may now get credit lines from banks via UPI for payments using Google Pay, much like a UPI payment.
Google is also improving its website's purchasing experience, making it easier to find things and extending discovery for small companies. “Starting today, if you search for something like “Best phone around Rs. 15,000” on Google Search, you'll now see a more visual feed of products to explore, with filters to help shoppers quickly and easily find the products they are looking for,” Google wrote on its blog.
YouTube is also getting fresh improvements. The site will launch an immersive news watch page that will draw material from reliable sources. This capability will be available in 11 Indian languages beginning in Q4 2023.
