Apple has launched iOS 17.1, the newest version of its iPhone operating system. When you are out of AirDrop range, the update adds functionality for massive AirDrop file transfers via the Internet. Additionally, it improves the StandBy function and Apple Music. It also includes a number of bug fixes. iOS 17.1 will be available for iPhone Xs and subsequent devices, including the iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 series. Aside from iOS 17.1, Apple has also launched iPadOS 17.1 and watchOS 10.1 to all compatible devices.

Last month, iOS 17 arrived on the freshly announced iPhone 15 series, as well as a few select older iPhone models. Apple has now officially launched iOS 17.1 for eligible iPhone devices, as well as iPadOS 17.1 and watchOS 10.1. The most recent update includes new features, enhancements, and bug fixes. When the update is ready, a notification icon will appear in the Settings app. Users of iPhones may manually check for updates by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

If the two linked devices move out of Wi-Fi range after the sharing process has begun, iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1 offer the option to continue AirDrop transfers over the Internet. The Apple Music app now offers choices for favorite songs, albums, and playlists, and users may filter the collection to see their favorites. Likewise, the update includes a new cover art collection with patterns that change colors to match the music in the playlist. iOS 17.1 will now include music suggestions at the bottom of each playlist. The most recent iPad update adds compatibility for the new Apple Pencil (USB-C).

Furthermore, the StandBy function in the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max models receives additional improvements to give customers more control over when the display shuts off. The most recent iOS version addresses many reported issues with keyboard responsiveness, showing incoming caller names, and displaying picture persistence. It adds Home key support for Matter locks and addresses a problem that might cause the Significant Location privacy setting to reset when transferring or pairing an Apple Watch for the first time. On the Lock Screen, you may now select a specific album to utilize with Photo Shuffle. The update improves the function of crash detection in all iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models.

iOS 17.1 will be available for iPhone devices including as the iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone SE (2022), iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone SE (2020), iPhone 11 series, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.
