The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to use a new 200-megapixel sensor: Details

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S23 series earlier this year, and the top-tier Galaxy S23 Ultra drew a lot of attention from critics (Review) and customers due to its photographic skills. The 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP2 sensor on the Galaxy S23 Ultra was a significant improvement over the 108-megapixel sensor on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Now, we're hearing that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will have even better cameras next year. Despite its 200-megapixel main camera, the Galaxy S24 Ultra may use a new camera sensor. The Galaxy S24 series, which includes the standard Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, is slated to be released early next year.

On X (previously Twitter), Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) proposed the camera characteristics of the as-yet-unannounced Galaxy S24 Ultra. According to the source, Samsung's 2024 flagship will use a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP2SX sensor. This image sensor may be an improved version of the ISOCELL HP2 sensor seen in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It is supposed to have 200 million pixels and 0.6-micron pixels (m) in a 1/1.3 optical format.

In addition to the 200-megapixel main sensor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra may have further camera enhancements, including a new telephoto lens. It's expected to include a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

The Galaxy S24 series is slated to be unveiled in around six months, but leaks continue to pour in. In all regions, Samsung is likely to carry a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, while the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are slated to launch with the company's in-house Exynos 2400 SoC in certain territories. The Ultra variant is believed to include 12GB RAM + 256GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage.

The Galaxy S24 series is also expected to include titanium frames. The chassis of the Galaxy S23 variants is made of aluminum. Furthermore, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is claimed to use a new EV battery technology for longer battery life.
