Sony Xperia 5 V Launched featuring 52-Megapixel Exmor T Camera and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC: Details

On Friday, Sony announced the Xperia 5 V. The smartphone is available in three color variants and a single storage model. It runs on an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The phone has a 5,000mAh battery that supports proprietary rapid charging. It is the successor to the Sony Xperia 5 IV, which was introduced in September 2022 and was powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The new device, however, has a two back camera arrangement rather than the triple rear camera setup featured on its predecessor.

The Sony Xperia 5 V 8GB + 256GB model is priced at EUR 999 (approximately Rs. 89,700). It is available in three different colors: black, blue, and platinum silver. Later this month, the device will be available throughout Europe, including the United Kingdom. Sony has not yet verified that this model would be available in India. Customers who purchase the phone from a major UK shop between September 22 and October 26 will be able to take advantage of a special Xperia 5 V launch package that includes the Sony WH-CH720N headphones.

Specs and features of the Sony Xperia 5 V

The 6.1-inch full-HD+ (2520 x 1080) OLED HDR display on the Sony Xperia 5 V boasts a refresh rate of 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, and an aspect ratio of 21:9. The device runs Android 13 and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with Adreno 740 GPU, 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.

The Sony Xperia 5 V features a dual rear camera unit with a 52-megapixel primary Exmor T sensor and a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera has a 12-megapixel sensor as well.

The Sony Xperia 5 V features 30W wired fast charging and is powered by a 5,000mAh battery. It has a fingerprint sensor on the side for further security. It also has connection for 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, and USB 3.2 Type-C. The device is dust and water resistant, having an IP68 certification and a 3.5mm audio port. The phone weighs 182 kilos and dimensions 154mm x 68mm x 8.6mm.
