Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may lose its 10x telephoto camera, but it retains its 100x digital zoom

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series, which includes the —vanilla Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra —is set to launch early next year. While we haven't heard much about the upcoming flagship lineup, a fresh rumor says that the South Korean electronics giant will include an astounding 200-megapixel quad rear camera unit with support for 100x zoom capabilities on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, Samsung may reduce the device's 10x optical zoom to 5x. Furthermore, all versions in the Galaxy S24 series are believed to include new M13-based OLED panels.

On X, tipster RGcloudS (@RGcloudS) shared rumored Galaxy S24 Ultra camera details. The next phone, according to the report, would include a quad back camera configuration headlined by a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP2SX sensor main sensor with 1/1.3-inch size. The back camera unit might possibly have a 12-megapixel Sony IMX564 ultra-wide sensor, a 10-megapixel telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom, and a 48-megapixel telephoto shooter with 5x optical zoom capability.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra features a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto camera as well as a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 10x optical zoom capability. According to the most recent report, Samsung will reduce the Galaxy S24 Ultra's 10x zoom capabilities to 5x. The 5x zoom would be comparable to Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Max. Despite the decrease, the future device may have the same 100x digital zoom as this year's model.

Furthermore, Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) claims that the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra will have new LTPO OLED M13 panels with 2,500 nits of peak brightness. The base Galaxy S24 is claimed to include the same display characteristics as the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra variants, with the main change being the display size and resolutions. 

Samsung plans to release the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024. With the Galaxy S24 range, it might employ newer, stronger Titanium frames instead of aluminum. Some Galaxy S24 variants are rumored to employ the future Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which will be released later this year. In other places, Samsung may resort to utilizing its own Exynos processors.
