Aditya-L1, India's first solar mission, will launch today (September 2) at 11.50 a.m. IST from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The launch of the solar mission comes only days after the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully landed on the moon's surface with its Chandrayaan-3 mission. Aditya-L1 will be transported atop ISRO's PSLV rocket for a 125-day voyage into orbit. Sun is represented by the name Aditya in the mission name.

When and where can you watch the Aditya-L1 solar mission launch online?

At 11.50 a.m. IST, the Indian Space Research Organization will launch its first solar mission. The Aditya-L1 launch live streaming will be available on different social media channels beginning at 11.20am IST, according to the space agency. The live event of the Aditya-L1 launch may be viewed on ISRO's Facebook page and ISRO's YouTube channel. The launch ceremony will also be streamed live on the ISRO website. Users may also witness the launch of the Aditya-L1 mission by clicking on the linked video below.

Aditya-L1 is being launched to do research on the Sun. It will be positioned in a halo orbit around the Sun-Earth system's Lagrange point 1 (L1). This site is approximately 1.5 million kilometers from Earth. The L1 point offers the satellite an advantage by allowing it to observe the sun without any eclipses. According to ISRO, there are five Lagrange points: L1, L2, L3, L4, and L5.

Seven payloads will be carried by the spacecraft. The voyage will take 125 days, with the satellite anticipated to be launched into orbit in mid-January.

IRSO intends to investigate the sun because it is the closest star to our planet. A detailed study of the sun can help scientists learn more about other stars in our Milky Way and other galaxies.
