According to a picture that has appeared online hours before the handset's scheduled appearance alongside the iPhone 15 Pro Max at Apple's 'Wonderlust' launch event, the iPhone 15 Pro will sport an Action button instead of a mute option. A well-known smartphone case manufacturer has shared a photograph of a cover for the alleged iPhone 15 Pro, which features a third button above the volume rocker in place of the company's omnipresent iPhone mute switch.

The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max are likely to be unveiled at Apple's 'Wonderlust' launch event tonight at 10:30 p.m. IST. According to prior rumors, the Pro versions would include an Action button, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra, which debuted last year. Spigen, a case maker, has all but confirmed the existence of the button on Apple's next phones ahead of this year's launch event, which begins tonight.

Spigen shared an image of the left side of a smartphone case with the two volume rocker buttons under a smaller one, located where Apple would be expected to include its mute switch that allows users to quickly toggle between normal and vibrate (silent) modes for calls and notifications in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) captioned "something's different".

This is the first image of a case from a well-known case maker for the forthcoming iPhone model with the Action button, however the hardware feature was previously revealed via photographs of smartphone covers on Weibo in June. At the time, a tipter shared photographs of protective covers for the rumored iPhone 15 Pro alongside those for the iPhone 14 Pro. The latter featured a mute switch cutout, whilst the former had a third button above the volume controls.

While Apple does not normally reveal specifics about new hardware features coming to its devices, previous sources indicate that the new Action button will be programmable, implying that it will be capable of far more than simply switching between regular and quiet modes on a smartphone.

According to iOS 17 code, the new button might let users to conduct at least nine activities, such as toggling Focus settings, accessibility capabilities, the flashlight — or activate the camera to shoot images and movies. When the 'Wonderlust' launch event begins tonight at 10:30 p.m., we'll discover more about the rumored Action button. Gadgets 360 has additional information on what to anticipate, how to watch the livestream of the event, and how to keep track of all the announcements.
