Microsoft will phase out WordPad in a future Windows upgrade, i.e. Windows 12. The corporation has declared that it would remove the functionality from its list of deprecated features. It states that the program will no longer get updates. WordPad is a text-editing program that primarily serves to edit text documents with minimal formatting. It first appeared in 1995. The program stores documents in.rtf format. Meanwhile, Microsoft has recently added Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise support to Google Chrome users.
According to Microsoft's deprecated features list, which was last updated on September 1, 2023, WordPad will no longer get updates since the firm intends to retire it in a future Windows version, namely Windows 12. Users should use Microsoft Word for text documents with.doc and.rtf extensions, and Windows Notepad for plain text documents. WordPad stores documents in.rtf format. Text-editing software was first released in 1995 and has been available since Windows 95.
WordPad can read and edit.rtf documents, but it does not allow sophisticated editing features like as adding tables, text colors, text background colors, numbered lists, and URL linking, among others. It is useful for taking fast notes.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has added desktop support for Bing Chat on Chrome, allowing users to use its AI-powered Bing Chat on Windows, macOS, and Linux as long as they have the Chrome browser installed. Because Chrome is the most popular Web browser, with over 60% market share, the extension has made the capability available to more users.
Additionally, the business has expanded Bing Chat Enterprise support to Edge for smartphones and the desktop version of Google Chrome. Users with Bing Chat Enterprise enabled may now use the functionality by opening Microsoft Edge on their smartphone and signing in with their work account.
