At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, Apple debuted the Vision Pro mixed reality headset, which targeted the dominating VR maker Meta. The Mark Zuckerberg-led startup appears to be preparing to compete with Apple's Vision Pro headset. According to reports, Meta has teamed up with LG to create a new mixed-reality headset. As a successor to Meta's high-end Quest Pro virtual reality headset, the future headset might launch in 2025. The finished headgear is projected to cost around $2,000 (approximately Rs. 1,65,900).
According to a report from Maeil Business Newspaper, Meta is cooperating with LG to produce future iterations of the Quest Pro headset, as discovered by UploadVR. According to reports, LG Electronics will manage the manufacture of the forthcoming Quest Pro headset. LG Display may supply display components, and LG Energy and LG Innotek may supply batteries and other components. According to reports, the high-end headset will be known as "Meta Quest 4 Pro."
Meta's first LG-collaborated headset model is expected to be released in 2025 and will cost roughly $2,000. The social media company's main VR headgear, Meta Quest Pro, is now available for $999.99 (about Rs. 82,000), down from its debut price of $1,499.99 (approximately Rs. 1,23,000).
Aside from the rumored Meta Quest 4 Pro, the Facebook owner is apparently planning to release a low-end Quest headset in 2024. It is estimated to cost less than $200 (approximately Rs. 16,000). The Oculus Quest 2 VR headset, which launched in 2020, is presently available for $299.99 (about Rs. 24,600).
In the past, Meta has collaborated with a number of consumer electronics firms to create a number of headsets. Meta and Xiaomi collaborated to create the Oculus Go. Lenovo built and co-designed the Oculus Rift S.
Meta is expected to pit its future high-end Quest Pro virtual reality headset against Apple's current Vision Pro headset. The latter was demonstrated during Apple's WWDC presentation in June. It costs $3,499 (approximately Rs. 2,88,500) and will be accessible in the United States beginning in 2024. It runs visionOS and has two high-resolution micro-OLED screens. It is powered by Apple's M2 processor and the new R1 chipset.
