According to R Hutton, the mission's project director, India plans to execute a major test in its ambitious crewed space mission Gaganyaan as early as next month.
Hutton stated that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is presently training four astronauts and is trying to extend the cohort as it prepares for additional future human flights.
The Gaganyaan mission aims to create a human-habitable space capsule that will take a three-person crew into a 400 km (250 mile) orbit for three days before splashing down in the Indian Ocean.
ISRO has stated that after Gaganyaan is complete, it would investigate ways to maintain a human presence in space.
The team plans to test its crew escape system, which may be used to remove astronauts in an emergency, before conducting a battery of additional tests before the final launch phase, according to Hutton, who added, "Safety is the most important thing we need to ensure."
The mission, which follows the momentous landing of the space agency's Chandrayaan-3 ship on the lunar south pole, would cost around Rs. 90.23 billion.
While no specific timeframe has been provided, the mission is planned to launch from Sriharikota, the country's major spaceport, before 2024.
Previously, the space agency stated that its Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre has successfully tested technologies for stabilizing the crew module and safely lowering its velocity during re-entry.

What is the mission of Gaganyaan 1?
Gaganyaan-1 (from Sanskrit: gagana, "celestial," and yna, "craft, vehicle") will be the Gaganyaan program's first uncrewed test flight, with a launch date of the first quarter of 2024.
Gaganyaan is on what mission?
India's and France's space agencies inked a collaboration agreement for Gaganyaan, India's first human space mission. France has a well-established space medical mechanism. It also includes the MEDES space clinic, a CNES subsidiary where space surgeons receive training.
