Google will unveil the Pixel 8 series, along with the Pixel Watch 2, on October 4 at the 'Made by Google' event. The Pixel 8 series, which includes the standard Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro, will be available in India as well. The tech titan has stated that pre-orders for the phones will begin on Flipkart the day after the launch event. For all Pixel releases, the e-commerce business has served as the online retail partner. Both Pixel 8 series devices are likely to run Android 14 and be powered by a Tensor G3 SoC.

Google teased the debut of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in India via X (previously Twitter) on Thursday (September 7). The flagship smartphones will be available for pre-order in India on Flipkart beginning October 5. However, pricing and the first sale date are yet unknown.

The Pixel 8 series will be the second major Pixel range to arrive in India since 2018, following the Pixel 7 series last year. Last October, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro went on sale. The Pixel 4, Pixel 5, and Pixel 6 series were never available in the nation. Meanwhile, a few watered-down A-series versions, including the Pixel 4a, Pixel 6a, and Pixel 7a, debuted in India.

Both Pixel 8 smartphones are expected to run Android 14 and have 120Hz refresh rate screens. As an improvement to the Tensor G2 SoC that powers the Pixel 7 series, Google is likely to deliver the next generation Tensor G3 SoC with the Pixel 8 lineup. According to reports, the Pixel 8 Pro would include additional camera sensors as well as a temperature sensor. It will have a 4,950mAh battery with 27W wired fast charging capabilities. The Pixel 8 might include a 4,485mAh battery with 24W wired charging and 12W wireless charging capability.

Google will have its Made by Google debut event in New York on October 4 at 10:00 a.m. local time (7:30 p.m. IST). Aside from the Pixel 8 series, the event will feature the introduction of the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Buds Pro.
