The OnePlus foldable smartphone was first teased earlier this year at the Cloud 11 launch event in February. Although the firm has been silent on the topic since, there has been ongoing conjecture regarding the supposed handset's design, pricing, launch timetable, and other key details. Leaked renderings have already hinted at the handset's design and specific camera specifications. So yet, the Shenzhen-based mobile maker hasn't even announced a model name. A leaker has already revealed the name that might be used for the first-ever OnePlus book-style foldable device.
On Twitter, tipper Max Jambor (@MaxJmb) revealed that OnePlus is preparing to debut its foldable phone under the title OnePlus Open. He also claimed that the firm contemplated names including OnePlus Prime, OnePlus Peak, OnePlus Edge, and OnePlus Wing.
Notably, when the model was initially revealed, it was expected to go by the names OnePlus V Fold and OnePlus V Flip, with the names differing depending on location. The phone was dubbed the OnePlus Fold or OnePlus V Fold over time.
The OnePlus folding phone is rumoured to include a 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED inner screen and a 6.3-inch AMOLED outside display with 120Hz refresh rate. The device is said to include an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. It will most likely ship with Oxygen OS 13.1 based on Android 13.
According to leaked mockups, the forthcoming foldable smartphone would have a black lychee-like leather surface. The rear panel has a huge circular center-aligned camera module with Hasselblad-branded cameras and a periscope lens that is said to provide image quality comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The phone is rumoured to include a 50-megapixel sensor with OIS, a 48-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, a 32-megapixel sensor with a periscope lens at the rear, and two 32-megapixel selfie camera sensors.
The phone is expected to be available in three colour options: black, gold, and green. It is planned to launch first in China, but will ultimately be offered in other areas where OnePlus devices are already available. According to reports, the worldwide rollout would also encompass the Indian and US markets.
