The Redmi Note 12R is the very first smartphone to be released featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC: Price and Specs

On Wednesday, the Redmi Note 12R was released in China. The phone is the first to use Qualcomm's newly released Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery and is available in four storage settings and three colour options. The phone was also just discovered on the China Telecom website. The Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G, which is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 CPU, was introduced earlier this year in May. 

Redmi Note 12R cost and availability

The Redmi Note 12R's base 4GB + 128GB model costs CNY 999 (about Rs. 11,300), while the 6GB + 128GB model costs CNY 1,099 (approximately Rs. 12,400). The slightly more expensive 8GB + 128GB mocel is priced at CNY 1,499 (about Rs. 17,000), while the high-end 8GB + 256GB model is priced at CNY 1,699 (approximately Rs. 19,200). According to the China Telecom website, the model will be available for purchase in China beginning June 30.

The Redmi Note 12R is available in three different colours: Midnight Black, Sky Fantasy, and Time Blue. 

Specs and features of the Redmi Note 12R

The Redmi Note 12R has a 6.79-inch full-HD+ (2400 X 1080 pixels) IPS LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness level of 550 nits. The dual nano SIM-capable smartphone comes pre-installed with Android 13-based MIUI 14.

It is the first smartphone in the world to be powered by the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. The CPU is combined with an Adreno GPU, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage, which can be expanded through a microSD card.

The Redmi Note 12R's dual rear camera unit features a 50-megapixel main sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 and a 2-megapixel sensor with a macro lens and an aperture of f/2.4. An 8-megapixel selfie camera is housed in the center-aligned hole-punch slot at the top of the display.

The Redmi Note 12R has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 18W wired fast charging. The phone has an IP53 classification for dust and water protection, as well as a 3.5mm headphone port. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a face unlock capability for added security. The handset weighs 199 grammes and has dimensions of 168.6mm x 76.28mm x 8.17mm.
