The replacement to Xiaomi's MIUI Android skin, HyperOS, has leaked online ahead of its official release. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has previously stated that the new operating system (OS) skin will be released alongside the Xiaomi 14 series, and the company is expected to reveal its next flagship phones at the end of the month. Users on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo have already published a number of photographs of the impending HyperOS skin, highlighting different features of the user interface.

On Wednesday, Weibo user "Mr. Water" (translated from Chinese) posted four images of the future HyperOS UI. The first image depicts the weather app's user interface, with the temperature in the upper left corner of the screen and temperature ranges for the forecast part at the bottom. The month layout tiles in the calendar app now have a rounded square shape.

Xiaomi's MIUI provided a control center with rapid toggles that matched Apple's Control Centre on iOS, and the forthcoming HyperOS will do the same. The brightness and volume sliders, as well as the integrated now playing widget, all seem remarkably identical to those on iOS 17, with a little layout change. The Wi-Fi and mobile data toggles are at the top of the screen, with various fast settings toggles in the lower half.

The home screen of HyperOS is shown to include two square-shaped widgets that display the time and weather, as well as the name of the program beneath — another design element that looks to be inspired by Apple's operating system.

Meanwhile, Weibo user Wei Xiaotian/ Alan (translated from Chinese) released four additional pictures of the anticipated HyperOS skin. A huge, vertically oriented digital clock looks to be customizable on the lock screen.

Another image depicts a new lock screen personalization feature — Android 14 brought new lock screen customization choices for Google's Pixel phones as well. According to the Weibo user's image, HyperOS would allow users to customize the font and color selections by tapping different lock screen elements.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has already stated that the new HyperOS operating system shell will be available on the Xiaomi 14 series of smartphones. The new handsets are expected to be released on October 27, although no specific timing has been specified. In the days preceding up to the planned launch date, we should expect to hear more about the operating system — and the devices it will debut on.
