Honor Magic 6 having Eye-Tracking Feature Teased, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC Confirmed

At Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit this week, Honor teased the Honor Magic 6 and its AI-powered features. The next flagship smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and will include an eye-tracking interaction feature called as Magic Capsule. In addition, the Honor Magic 6 will contain Yoyo, a virtual assistant that will use Qualcomm's on-device AI. Honor Magic 6 will not be released on a certain date, according to the Huawei subsidiary. It might appear in the first quarter of 2024, similar to the Honor Magic 5 series.

Honor demonstrated the new Honor Magic 6 during a keynote at the Qualcomm Summit. The device is said to be powered by the newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and would have some new AI functions. It is confirmed that it will include Magic Capsule technology, which would allow users to interact with the phone using their eyes. This feature appears to be similar to Apple's Dynamic Island, and it will allow users to start an app or interact with content on their phone simply looking at the appropriate location.

Honor also showed a sample film that depicted how this technology will look in the future. The video shows a woman holding the Honor Magic 6 and glancing at it to access the Magic Capsule. When she shifts her attention, the smartphone displays the Uber app.

Furthermore, the Honor Magic 6 will have inbuilt artificial intelligence driven by a large language model (LLM). Based on voice instructions, Honor's in-built chatbot Yoyo will use Qualcomm's on-device AI to generate a short film utilizing photographs and videos saved on the phone. It will function similarly to Google Bard in that it will use prompts to change layouts, themes, and music.

Honor has not confirmed a release date for the Honor Magic 6, and its remaining characteristics are likewise unknown. However, we may anticipate that it will become official in the first quarter of next year. Last week, Honor introduced the Honor Magic 5 and Honor Magic 5 Pro at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 in Barcelona. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC powers the Honor Magic 5 series.
