Apple, which has traditionally avoided foldables, may soon enter the market. Earlier stories speculated about a foldable iPad rather than a folding iPhone, but they were mostly educated estimates by notable experts. As it turns out, there is now further evidence on that front, with a source suggesting that a foldable iPad will go into production next year and may even appear on sale next year. Samsung may have gotten a head start on foldables in recent years, but according to the newest statistics, Apple appears to be targeting a whole other sector.

Following Samsung's domination in the foldable smartphone industry for many years, several smartphone makers have recently begun to express interest in the area. Year after year, Samsung has been the sole smartphone maker to announce and debut its foldable portfolio in India. More players, like as Motorola and Oppo, have only recently joined this area, with OnePlus being the first company to produce a full-sized premium horizontal foldable after Tecno's Phantom V Fold debuted earlier this year. According to DigiTimes, Apple is also preparing its suppliers and preparing to debut its first iPad foldable.

According to its supply chain sources, small-scale manufacture of this iPad foldable might commence by the end of 2024. While Apple appears to want to be a part of the foldables competition, it has yet to submit its design. According to the insider, Apple would initially test comparable technology on larger devices such as the iPad before applying it to iPhones.

According to the publication's sources, Apple's objective is to reduce production costs by employing a simpler design. According to the insider, Apple picked the iPad over the iPhone because iPadOS is identical to the iOS operating system on the iPhone. Another reason Apple chose the iPad for its first foldable is risk, as the iPad currently accounts for a lower portion of Apple's income than a product as essential as the iPhone.

Meanwhile, according to a previous claim by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple's foldable iPad would feature a carbon-fiber kickstand and will be available in 2024. The latest updates back up the previous information. Back in January, Kuo predicted that Apple will convert to this foldable iPad when tablet shipments fell even lower (by 10-15%) this year.
