Shipments of the iPhone 15 Pro Max might be delayed by nearly four weeks. Due to supply constraints, Tipster Claims

The iPhone 15 Pro Max, which was supposed to be unveiled on September 12 at Apple's forthcoming launch event, might be delayed by a few weeks. According to a tip on X (previously known as Twitter), Apple may delay the introduction of the top-of-the-line iPhone model owing to supply concerns. Along with four new iPhone models, Apple is expected to introduce the Apple Watch Series 9, the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra, and an updated AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) featuring a USB Type-C connector.

According to tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve), the iPhone 15 Pro Max release date might be "delayed by up to approximately 4 weeks" owing to "severe" yield concerns with the fabrication of image sensors for the high-end smartphone. Apple is likely to reveal the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max later this month.

The yield issues with Sony, the supplier of image sensors for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, are severe. As a result, the release date of the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be delayed by up to approximately 4 weeks.

According to a previous source, Apple supplier Sony was experiencing "insufficient production capacity" due to rising demand for 48-megapixel cameras — this year, Apple is expected to equip all iPhone 15 models with the 48-megapixel primary camera that debuted on iPhone 14 Pro models.

It is worth mentioning that the tipster is not the first to forecast a delay in the manufacture of the top-of-the-line model. In a Medium post last week, TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Max project was "the last to kick off," with mass production lagging behind other models in the series.

According to reports, the next iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be far more expensive than its predecessors. This is owing to the speculated transition to a titanium chassis from stainless steel, while the Pro Max variant is also said to include a periscope camera with better optical zoom compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Kuo also anticipated that Apple will sell up to 225 million handsets in 2023, putting the company ahead of Samsung as the world's top smartphone manufacturer. The analyst also predicts that the iPhone manufacturer plans to ship 250 million iPhones in 2024, which may secure the company's position atop the market the following year.
