Nokia G42 5G Featuring Snapdragon 480+ SoC and 5,000mAh Battery Launched in India: Price and Specs

Today (September 11), Nokia brand licensee HMD Global released the Nokia G42 5G in India as the company's latest 5G product. Nokia's latest G-series smartphone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ SoC, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. The Nokia G42 5G features a triple rear camera array led by a 50-megapixel main sensor, as well as a 5,000mAh battery. The Nokia G42 5G is verified to be produced in India and will be available in the nation later this week through Amazon. In June of this year, the handset was released in a few markets.

The Nokia G42 5G costs Rs. 12,599 for the single 6GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration. It will be available on Amazon beginning September 15 in the colors So Grey and So Purple.

The device was announced in Europe in June, with a price tag of EUR 199 (approximately Rs. 20,800) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration.

Specs for the Nokia G42 5G

The Nokia G42 5G runs Android 13 and will receive two years of Android OS upgrades as well as monthly security updates for three years. It has a 6.56-inch HD+ (720 x 1,612 pixel) LCD display with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a peak brightness of 560 nits. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the display as well. Under the hood of the 5G smartphone is an octa-core Snapdragon 480+ SoC, teamed with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. RAM is essentially expandable up to 11GB.

The Nokia G42 5G features a triple rear camera array with a 50-megapixel primary sensor and two 2-megapixel sensors. A front-facing 8-megapixel sensor is available for selfies and video chats.

The Nokia G42 5G supports 5G, GPS, a USB Type-C connector, Bluetooth 5.1, and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax connectivity. It has an accelerometer, a light sensor, an e-compass, and a proximity sensor. There is also a fingerprint sensor on the side for authentication. The phone is also dust and water resistant, with an IP52 rating.

A 5,000mAh battery powers the Nokia G42 5G, which also supports 20W wired fast charging. According to the manufacturer, the battery may provide up to three days of listening time on a single charge. It has dimensions of 165x8.55x75.8mm and weighs 193.8 grams.
