On Wednesday, Meta Smart Glasses, developed in conjunction with Ray-Ban, were unveiled with the Meta Quest 3 and other goods. Users may use the smart glasses to broadcast videos on Facebook and Instagram hands-free. The frame has a 12-megapixel camera sensor as well as an LED unit. This smart wearable replaces the Ray-Ban Stories, the company's first smart glasses, and will be available in September 2021. The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, however, lack a display device, unlike AR/VR headsets.

Price and availability of Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses

Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses with regular lenses start at $299 (about Rs. 24,999), while Polarized and Transition lenses cost $329 (approximately Rs. 27,400) and $379 (approximately Rs. 31,500), respectively. It is available in 150 unique bespoke frame and lens design options.

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart glasses are now available for pre-order in 15 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and Europe. The smart glasses will be available for purchase in these areas beginning October 17. Meta has not stated when the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses would be available in India.

Specs and features of Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses

Two circular perforations on either side of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses frame house a 12-megapixel sensor and an LED light that also serves as a recording indication. The camera can shoot photographs with a resolution of 3,024 x 4,032 pixels and 1080p movies lasting up to 60 seconds. Users may then share these media assets with other image/video sharing applications via the Meta View app.

The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses also support first-person livestreaming, allowing users to transmit anything they are looking at while wearing the glasses in real time to their Instagram and Facebook pages. Users may also enable handsfree capabilities by using the 'Hey Meta' prompt.

Despite the fact that the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses lack a display, the firm says that when compared to the Ray-Ban Stories, the two open-ear speakers in the new glasses allow less audio leakage and deliver up to 50% louder sound, deeper bass, and more clarity.

The Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 Platform SoC and come with 32GB of internal storage. Meta claims that the glasses have up to four hours of battery life and an extra 32 hours with the charging case, and that they are sleeker in design than its predecessor. According to the manufacturer, a full charge takes 75 minutes. The glasses are also IPX4 certified.
