The Wall Street Journal stated on Sunday that Meta Platforms is working on a new artificial-intelligence system that will be as powerful as OpenAI's most sophisticated model.

According to the Journal, Facebook's parent company plans to release its next AI model next year, and it will be several times more powerful than its commercial version, known as Llama 2.

Llama 2 is Meta's open source AI language model that was released in July and is distributed through Microsoft's Azure cloud services to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard.

According to the publication, the intended system would assist other organizations in developing services that offer complex writing, analysis, and other output.

According to the story, Meta hopes to begin training the new AI system, known as a big language model, in early 2024.

Meta did not immediately reply to a request for comment from Reuters.

Since the debut of OpenAI's ChatGPT late last year, businesses and organizations have flocked to the young generative AI industry for fresh capabilities and refining business processes.

According to Bloomberg News, Apple is working on AI services akin to OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard, and it has constructed its own framework known as 'Ajax' to generate huge language models, as well as testing a chatbot called as 'Apple GPT' by certain developers.

Meta launched an AI model capable of translating and transcribing voice in dozens of languages in August, laying the groundwork for technologies that enable real-time communication across linguistic barriers.

In a blog post, the business stated that its SeamlessM4T model could allow text-to-speech translation in almost 100 languages, as well as full speech-to-speech translation in 35 languages, merging technology that was previously only accessible in separate models.
