On October 4, Google will unveil its next-generation smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, as well as new wearables. A renowned leaker has disclosed the essential characteristics of the Pixel 8 series ahead of time, leaving nothing to the imagination of smartphone fans. They are said to be powered by the Tensor G3 SoC and include 10.5-megapixel selfie cameras as well as an IP68 water resistant rating. The Pixel 8 will have a 6.2-inch display, while the Pixel 8 Pro will have a 6.7-inch screen. The fresh source also backs up prior revelations.

Evan Blass (@evleaks), a well-known leaker, disclosed the characteristics of the forthcoming Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro via a comparative promo chart on X (previously Twitter). The Pixel 8 series is believed to have certain similarities with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7a from last year. According to the ad, the future handsets will use a new Tensor G3 processor.

The Pixel 8 is believed to have a 6.2-inch Actua display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, while the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to have a 6.7-inch Super Actua screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The standard model is expected to include a dual back camera system with a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with autofocus, as well as up to 8x SuperRes zoom. In comparison, the Pixel 8 Pro is rumored to include a triple rear camera arrangement that includes a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 48-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and another 48-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. According to reports, both versions will have a new 10.5-megapixel front-facing camera sensor.

Google's Pixel 8 series is supposed to have fast charging and will provide up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge. They will enable face unlock and in-display fingerprint sensors for biometric authentication. The Pixel 8 Pro may potentially have a thermometer. The forthcoming versions, like the Pixel 7 series smartphones, feature an IP68 designation for dust and water protection.

The Google Pixel 8 hardware launch event is set for October 4 at 10:00 a.m. local time (7:30 p.m. IST). Google's Pixel Watch 2 will also make its debut during the 'Made by Google' event.
