The Design of the Nothing Phone 2 Has Been Revealed on YouTube, and Notable Glyph Interface Upgrades Provide Uber and Zomato Support

Nothing Phone 2 has been seen in a video on YouTube, days before its official release. Following weeks of teasing the smartphone's features and appearance, the UK-based business has revealed the handset's design via a prominent YouTube content maker. The smartphone has an eerie similarity to the original Nothing phone, with some notable improvements to the Glyph Interface, the company's proprietary LED notification system for the cellphone. Meanwhile, according to Pei, the business is considering introducing capabilities that are only available to Nothing users.

Marques Brownlee shows off the design of the Nothing Phone 2 and lays it beside its predecessor in his latest YouTube video. While the Nothing Phone 1 was available in black and white, the next Nothing Phone 2 is seen in grey – based on the company's prior teaser, we may also expect a white variant. In addition, unlike last year's model, the new model has a curved back panel.

While the Glyph Interface on the Nothing Phone 2 appears to be identical to that of the first-generation smartphone from the UK-based business, it is proven to provide a few noticeable improvements. According to Brownlee, the LED strip around the wireless charging space is separated into six sections. The phone will include 33 LED illumination zones, up from the previous smartphone's 12 zones. These addressable LED zones may be customised and utilised by third-party apps; for example, the Nothing Phone 1 was released last year with the option to display charging progress on the bottom LED strip.

This year, the Nothing Phone 2 will be able to display additional settings and functionality, such as a volume metre or a timed countdown. The most noticeable difference with the upcoming smartphone is the addition of support for other apps, such as Uber and Zomato, which will be able to use the addressable LED lighting zones on the Nothing Phone 2 to provide users with a visual indicator of how long it will take for a pickup or food delivery. In the future, other programmes should be able to access the Glyph Interface as well.

Meanwhile, Pei said on Twitter that the smartphone manufacturer is considering introducing capabilities that are unique to Nothing devices, and he asked fans whether they had friends or relatives who used the company's cellphones. However, he has not disclosed any other specifics regarding the alleged capabilities, such as planned functionality or whether they would be supported by existing devices when they are launched.
