Reliance Jio has announced the launch of new Jio Bharat phones, with the goal of making India a "2G-Mukt Bharat." Beginning July 7, the business will conduct a beta test of the first 1 million Jio Bharat phones in 6,500 tehsils. The new internet-enabled phone will cost Rs. 999. Meanwhile, the business intends to release a JioPhone 5G handset later this year. According to the previously released live photos of the alleged phone, the JioPhone would most likely contain a twin back camera configuration.
The telecom provider announced the availability of entry-level phones with internet for Rs. 999 on Monday. According to the corporation, the launch of these phones is a step towards digital empowerment in India. Beginning on July 7, Reliance Jio will begin beta testing of the phone. The corporation will distribute 1 million phones across 6,500 tehsils throughout the trial period.
These smartphones are aimed specifically at the section of customers who cannot afford pricey smartphones and are unable to access the internet. Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani stated, "There are still 250 million mobile phone users in India who are 'trapped' in the 2G era, unable to access basic internet features."
As the country transitions to 5G, the business hopes to make India a 2G-Mukt Bharat by offering low-cost phones with internet access.
The basic pricing of recharge programmes has also been disclosed by the corporation. Jio subscribers will receive unlimited phone calls and 14GB of internet for just Rs. 123 per month.
The next JioPhone, on the other hand, is expected to be available in black. According to the Twitter user, the dual back camera module can be seen in the top middle, possibly headed by a 13-megapixel AI camera and joined by a 2-megapixel secondary lens.
