EA Sports FC 24 — previously FIFA — is set to release on September 29. EA's yearly (but renamed) football simulation game will be offered in Standard and Ultimate versions, with the latter offering a week's worth of early access — vs FIFA 23's three days — beginning September 22. Meanwhile, EA Play subscribers will receive a 10-hour free trial. The publisher promised additional details about EA Sports FC in July back in April, and the timing of this leak feels quite fortunate as well. The title is EA Sports' first football game since parting ways with the worldwide football organisation, which resulted in the loss of the famed 'FIFA' brand.
The article also mentions another leak from Twitter user @ALumia_Italia, who has a record for scraping the Xbox backend and upping file sizes for closed beta versions of EA Sports FC 24. According to the miner, the Xbox Series X version is 41.57GB, whereas the old-gen Xbox One beta is 39.23GB. It's not unexpected that the game will be playable on previous generation consoles, considering that the FIFA series has always been competitive in nature — similar to Call of Duty — so that they can appeal to or cover a bigger player base across all regions and platforms. There is currently no information on file sizes for the PC and/or PlayStation versions. With FIFA out of the picture, EA Sports is under a lot more pressure to produce great products that are as successful as their predecessors. For the time being, nothing is known about EA Sports FC, although we can anticipate its money-making Ultimate Team game mode to be included.
In April, the publisher released the official EA Sports FC logo, which is fashioned like an upside-down triangle taken from the in-game marking flying on top of players' heads. This is what the series will be known as in the future, while major modifications to the core gameplay are doubtful. For the uninitiated, EA Sports had financial problems with FIFA, with the latter purportedly wanting over $1 billion (about Rs. 8,253 crore) every four years to licence out the long-running series' trademark. EA CEO Andrew Wilson then reacted to the requests, stating that he was prepared to remove the 'FIFA' branding from its games and that the only value EA ever received from the licence in a non-World Cup year was 'four letters on the box'. The studio will keep the majority of its existing licences for football teams and top leagues, including the Premier League, which is said to have cost $588 million (about Rs. 4,852 crore).
Meanwhile, FIFA said last year that it will collaborate with other third-party developers to create its own game. "I can assure you that the only genuine, real FIFA game will be the best available for gamers and football fans." FIFA is the only really worldwide and original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25, and FIFA 26, and so on — the constant is the FIFA name, and it will stay forever and THE BEST," FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated in a press release.
If the rumours are correct, EA Sports FC 24 will be released on September 29 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. It is unknown whether the future sports title, like previous editions in the franchise, will be accessible on the Nintendo Switch.
