According to Amazon, cumulative global sales by Indian exporters via the e-commerce exports programme Amazon Global Selling are on track to exceed $8 billion (almost Rs. 65,900 crore) in 2023.
According to Amazon's Exports Digest 2023, India's exports under the initiative totaled $5 billion (almost Rs. 41,200 crore) last year.
"Cumulative exports by Indian exporters on its e-commerce exports programme Amazon Global Selling are on track to surpass $8 billion in 2023," according to the research.
According to the research, Amazon Global Selling has grown to include 1.25 lakh exporters since its introduction in 2015, with over 1,200 Indian exporters on the platform exceeding Rs. 1 million in sales last year.
According to the research, the top export categories were toys (50 percent), home and kitchen (35 percent), and beauty items (25 percent), while clothes, grocery, and health and sports equipment were among the developing product categories.
"The inclusion of a dedicated chapter on e-commerce exports in the FTP'23 will catalyse export growth and open up opportunities for lakhs of small businesses across India." "We will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders, as well as lakhs of small businesses and startups, to enable $20 billion (nearly Rs. 1,64,700 crore) in cumulative e-commerce exports from India by 2025," stated Amazon India Director of Global Trade Bhupen Wakankar.
According to the research, over 266 million 'Made in India' items are exported under the project to worldwide clients in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, Spain, France, and Italy.
According to the survey, Delhi topped exports on the platform in 2023, with Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh ranking as top exporting states on the platform.
