Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip performance specifications have leaked online, weeks before the forthcoming flagship processor's planned unveiling. This is not the first time the forthcoming mobile chipset has been identified in online performance benchmark testing, but the most recent tests show that the chip has crossed the 2 million threshold on the AnTuTu benchmark test. The chipmaker has yet to formally divulge specifics about the rumored Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which is slated to be launched later this month at the Snapdragon Summit 2023 event.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

  • Tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) claimed in a post on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging website, that there might be a substantial gap in performance between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and its predecessor.

  • According to the tipster, the benchmark information have surpassed 2 million points.

Performance Benchmark Score:

  • The CPU performance benchmark score was over 440,000 points, while the GPU performance benchmark score was over 840,000 points.

AnTuTu score:

  • For comparison, the AnTuTu score of last year's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was about 1.6 million points, with roughly 380,000 points in the CPU test and over 600,000 points in the GPU test.

Self-Developed GPU Improvements:

  • The source also claims that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 would have "self-developed GPU improvements," which might explain the larger performance increase when compared to the CPU.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Score:

  • The alleged Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 score is significantly higher than the last reported score of 17,71,106 points.

Top Three Devices:

  • The chipset's score was already higher than the top three devices at the time, which were the iQoo Neo 8 Pro (1,358,352), the Oppo Find X6 Pro (1,307,816), and the OnePlus 11 5G (1,324,440).

Benchmark Test:

  • The benchmark test was carried out on prototype gear, which included the new CPU, 16GB of LPDDR5T RAM, and an improved version of 1TB of UFS 4.0 inbuilt storage, according to the tipster.

LPDDR5T RAM:

  • LPDDR5T (Low Power Double Data Rate 5 Turbo) RAM, which was announced earlier this year, operates at a data rate of 9.6Gbps, which is 16 percent faster than LPDDR5X RAM.

  • However, Digital Chat Station points out that the handsets that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 would power next are anticipated to include LPDDR5X RAM, which is already available on current flagship smartphones, which implies that future smartphone benchmarks are unlikely to be as high as this prototype device.
