The Red Magic 8S Pro+ and Red Magic 8S Pro featuring up to 24GB RAM, as well as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, have been launched

On Wednesday, the Red Magic 8S Pro and Red Magic 8S Pro+ were released in China. The latest gaming-focused smartphones from ZTE sub-brand Nubia are powered by an enhanced version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, as well as up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. They run Redmagic OS 8.0, which is based on Android 13, and have an ICE 12.0 cooling system with a 3D vapour chamber for thermal control. The devices have a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The Red Magic 8S Pro has a 6,000mAh battery and supports 80W fast charging, whilst the Red Magic 8S Pro+ has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 165W fast charging.

Pricing and Availability of the Red Magic 8S Pro and Red Magic 8S Pro+

The Red Magic 8S Pro starts at CNY 3,999 (about Rs. 45,300) for the entry-level 8GB RAM + 128GB storage option. The 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model costs CNY 4,399 (about Rs. 50,000), while the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model costs CNY 4,799 (approximately Rs. 54,000). The most expensive model, with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, costs CNY 5,499 (about Rs. 62,000).

The RedMagic 8S Pro+, on the other hand, is priced at CNY 5,499 for the base 16GB + 256GB storage option. The 16GB + 512GB storage model costs CNY 5,799 (about Rs. 65,900). There is also a RedMagic 8S Pro+ Aurora model with storage choices of 16GB +512GB, 16GB +512GB, 16GB + 1TB, and 24GB + 1TB. They cost CNY 5,799 (approximately Rs. 65,200), CNY 5,999 (approximately Rs. 68,100), CNY 6,999 (approximately Rs.79,400), and CNY 7499 (approximately Rs. 90,000), respectively. In addition, Nubia has released a limited edition Red Magic 8S Pro+ Bumblebee smartphone for CNY 6,500 (about Rs. 73,000) with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It has a distinctive yellow finish.

All models of the Red Magic 8S Pro series are presently available for pre-order in China, with delivery set to begin on July 11.

Specs for the Red Magic 8S Pro+

The dual-SIM (Nano) Red Magic 8S Pro+ features a 6.8-inch full-HD+ (1,116x2,480 pixels) AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 100 percent coverage of DCI-P3 colour gamut, and 1,300 nits of peak brightness and runs on the Android 13-based Red Magic OS 8. The touch sampling rate on the panel is rated at 960Hz. It is equipped with a 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Edition SoC and up to 24GB of RAM. The special edition CPU has a 1+4+3 architecture with a maximum frequency of 3.36GHz. The standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC features a primary CPU core with a maximum clock speed of 3.2GHz.

The Red Magic 8S Pro+, like the previous versions, has ICE12.0 Magic Cooling technology, which includes cooling fans, graphene, and a 3D vapour chamber to regulate temperature during long gaming sessions. There is also an in-house Red Core R2 microprocessor, as well as a dual X-axis linear motor.

The Red Magic 8S Pro+ comes with a triple back camera configuration, led by a 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 main sensor. A 16-megapixel under-display camera manages selfies and video calls.

The unique Bumblebee Edition of the Red Magic 8S Pro+ features a new packaging, but the specs remain the same.

The Red Magic 8S Pro has the same display characteristics as the Red Magic 8S Pro+ and runs the Android 13-based Red Magic OS 8. It is also equipped with an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and up to 16GB of RAM. It has the same ICE 12.0 Magic Cooling system and Red Core R2 gaming processor as the previous model.

The Red Magic 8S Pro, like the Pro+ variant, has a triple rear camera configuration led by a 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 sensor and a 16-megapixel under-screen selfie camera. It has 512GB of internal storage.

The connectivity choices are the same as on the Red Magic 8S Pro+. The Red Magic 8S Pro has a bigger 6,000mAh battery unit with support for 80W fast charging, which is said to charge the battery from zero to 100 percent in as little as 35 minutes. According to the manufacturer, the battery may provide up to 48.14 hours of gameplay on a single charge.
