The Alpine F1 team has received a EUR 200 million (roughly Rs. 1,800 crore) financial investment from a group of investors that includes actors Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Rob McElhenney (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia). The company, which includes Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners, and Maximum Effort Investments, has bought a 24 percent ownership in the Alpine F1 team, which Alpine estimates is worth EUR 900 million (roughly Rs. 8,060 crore).

The investment is claimed to be limited to the Formula One team, while Renault's engine section, which supplies engines to the F1 team, is not included in the transaction and will stay under Renault's management. The Renault Group, located in France, continues to be the majority owner and operator of the Alpine F1 team, named for its specialist Alpine sports car brand, which presently only has one vehicle type in existence – the Alpine A110.

Alpine will try to profit on the investor group's celebrity power, as well as its media and marketing talents, notably Ryan Reynolds, who has appeared in films such as Deadpool, Red Notice, and Free Guy. The investing group has also collaborated with the Dallas Cowboys, Toulouse FC, and Wrexham AFC of the English Premier League.

Reynolds and McElhenney are also co-owners of Wrexham AFC, a Welsh football club that has lately achieved significant success both on and off the pitch as a result of the money and attention provided by its celebrity owners.

The acquisition of Wrexham AFC and subsequent turnaround is featured in the docu-series Welcome to Wrexham, which is credited with much of the football club's success, which recently earned promotion to the English Football League system (EFL League Two) after 15 years in the lower semi-professional National League. Reynolds and McElhenney are extensively featured in the series, and it's probable that Alpine F1 will use the actors in a similar role for promotion.

Alpine is presently ranked fifth in the Constructors' Championship for the 2023 Formula One season, one position lower than it was in 2022. The squad has struggled to compete with the elite teams, however driver Esteban Ocon did finish a shocking but well-deserved third at the Monaco Grand Prix this season.
